Trip of 3 days from Ouarzazate to desert south of Morocco
Day 1: Ouarzazate – Agdz – Zagora – M’hamid
Morning departure with 4×4 to Ouarzazate M’hamid, through the Draa Valley and its thousand and one kasbahs along a palm over 200 km. Passage through the village of Zagora and the Agdz. Stop Tamgroute to visit the Koranic library, pottery making and underground streets. Continuing the trail through the grove of Ouled Brahim Reg Elfaija and continuation to M’hamid last Draa palm grove and the beginning of the desert to get to camp, near the desert. Check in to the bivouac.
Day 2: M’hamid – Chegaga
After breakfast, a camel ride (1 hour) and then start a 4×4 track to the great sandy dunes of Chegaga, the largest dunes in Morocco. lunch under the shade of palm and tamarisk. In the afternoon, back to the track to Chegaga. Check into the Chegaga bivouac to watch the sunset. Nomad evening. Dinner and overnight in tents or under the stars.
Day 3: Chegaga – Fum-Zguid Taznakhte – Ouarzazate
Departure for the track between the Erg Chegaga and the dry bed of the Draa through Lake Iriqui, then Foum Zguid and continue by road via Taznakht. With plenty of photo opportunities. Afternoon arrival in Ouarzazate.
